WHY AM I
HURTING?
by Laurie Gabrys
What makes me hurt so much?
I will tell you about this and such.
The hurting, but also the pain,
That I am going to explain.
It is so easy to hurt each other,
So hard to be tender
Toward one another.
You see that I am crying,
So you try to make up, by lying.
I see that you do not mean it,
But in return I pretend that it is OK,
Then you do it again, another day.
Why can't we see and try to be,
More in tune with one another.
Then we can start to heal
Because we will know
How each other feel.
We are Sister or Brother, Father or Mother,
Daughter or Son, Husband or Wife,
Can we be in tune with each other’s life?
Then we can see each other’s pain.
Now in the future,
We can avoid more of the same.
It is so hard to understand,
The reason behind the laughter,
When someone is laughing at you.
It is hard to hide,
The pain you feel,
When you are brushed aside.
So we hide behind our mask,
And continue daily to bask,
In pain and sorrow, Until tomorrow,
We may no longer be able
To continue.
Maybe, one day we will learn,
And each teach in turn,
That we must share our Love,
And ask God's help from above.
To help us be,
Along with 'Free',
Considerate of one another,
Every Sister and Brother.
We must heal the pain,
The strife and the strain,
So this world can find,
Love in our time.
It will not be easy,
But no one thought it would,
There will be times,
When we wish it could.
We will work together,
Instead of apart,
And today and forever,
We will not part.
It will take time to heal,
And you may feel,
It is a great task,
Because you are still
Hiding behind your mask.
Working together, instead of apart
Will eventually heal,
Each and every heart.
We must start from today,
And in each and every way,
Avoid hurting, but do healing,
Taking into account each feeling.
With God's help, together
We can share Love, forever.
